With increased popularity and greater choice and availability, the number of electric vehicles in the UK is growing at a fast rate. As of August 2023, there are roughly 850,000 electric cars and 46,000 electric vans on UK roads, and a further 530,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Whilst the UK’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure is growing to meet the needs of EV drivers, the vast majority of electric vehicle charges will take place at home (usually overnight) or outside a commercial premises.
The cheapest, most convenient way to charge an electric vehicle, is to install a dedicated chargepoint outside the home or workplace, and this is also much quicker than using a regular UK three-pin socket. Smart charging can be used to make savings by charging your vehicle at off-peak times.
